Estate Agents

Why is it that the one who represents the house you want to by is rude and stroppy and hard to deal with, and the ones who represent property you just aren't interested in would bend over backwards to make a deal happen with you?  ???

Must be! I just had to say goodbye to a perfect house that we loved because the estate agent handling it is impossible to deal with. Last week she told me that the seller had come down from their asking price, and quoted it to me. I said we'd like to view the house again and get back to her, as my husband hadn't seen the inside yet. I ring her today and we upped our offer to closer to what she quoted us, and then she actually *yelled* at me about how you can't bid lower than another bid. I'm all, "what other bid?" She then says she told me the quoted price was an offer from another couple. First I heard of it. I explained my confusion, that I was under the impression that was what the seller was coming down to, and that I'd have to get back to her. She was all pissy with me, actually giving me attitude. Which she's been giving a vibe of since we started chasing this house. So I confered with my other half and rang her back. Good luck to the other couple, because we aren't getting into a bidding war at that price.

I have my doubts whether another buyer exists or not, as the house has been on the market almost a year now. Quite a coincidence that we arrive on the scene and express interest and someone else comes in and outbids us? Or am I too cyncial.

Regardless, grrrr! How frustrating this is!

Definitely sod's law!!  My FH is an estate agent, and I'd definitely count him as one of the nice ones ( ;) ), but his co-worker is an absolute nightmare.  Nicely put, she's a snotty mega-b*tch.  Guess who sells more houses?  She does!  Extremely frustrating.

Don't even get me started on this. I just today finished my report to the Estate Agent's Ombudsman with a huge list of complaints!!

We've had some crap luck with estate agents too.  Glad to hear there are nice ones!  Best of luck with the house search!
