securing a loan without 3 years address history

i am getting stone walled trying to get a loan. we rent a house right now and i am being told without 3 years address history i have no hope of getting a loan. can i get a parent to co-sign? will i have better luck applying for a credit card? any help, links etc.. would be greatly appreciated.
