Ipod techie help needed
« on: July 18, 2007, 04:00:17 PM »
Can somebody please tell me how to get a song from a folder on my puter, into itunes and onto my ipod, without having to unplug, and replug my ipod in everytime? That can't be the way it's supposed to be done, is it? Is there an easier way? Thanks, techie people!

You have to connect your iPod to your computer any time you want to update/add new music to it.  There really isn't any way around that.

Or am I misunderstanding the question?

No, it was me and my one working brain cell! I figured it out, after doing five songs the hard way..........I found the 'synch Ipod' button.  ::) I was unplugging it, and plugging it back in after each song download. Is that lame or what??  :)

You can also configure iTunes to let you manually update your iPod so that everytime you plug the iPod in, it doesn't automatically update it (handy if you use iTunes for different things than you use your iPod for).

Ohhh, that's good to know. However, I have no idea what else it could be used for.

Well, say you don't always want to have the podcasts that you've downloaded on the computer to be on the iPod (cause they take up too much space, or you've listened to them and forgot to delete, or you don't want to listen to all your podcasts this week or whatever). If your iPod automatically syncs, it replaces the podcasts for you, whereas if you manually update your iPod, you can pick and choose when and which to sync. (I'm only using this as an example of the difference)
