rewiring lamps, anyone?
« on: July 22, 2007, 08:34:14 PM »
I have two to three lamps I would be sad to part with and I am considering shipping them over with our furniture from the U.S.  Has anyone had a go at rewiring lamps so you can use them in the UK?

We rewired a rocketship lamp, as it is handmade and just FAB in general we thought we would give it a go. My husband just replaced the plug and it has worked fine ever since (and that was in 1999) its easy peasy.

Changing the plug and bulb will work, but there can be concerns as to whether the switch and lampholder are rated for the higher voltage (the cord itself won't be a problem).

See part way through my first post in the Technical issues thread, and also replies 15 through 17.
