You know, they do sell ginger Altoids. I always have peppermint altoids in my purse because they help with stomach problems (peppermint soothes the stomach when it is upset). I wonder if the ginger Altoids would help? Unfortunately I cannot stand the taste and smell of ginger, so it wouldn't work for me. I'll definitely remember to make sure I'm not looking down when reading and that I'm facing the right way. That seems to make sense to me too.

What's a seaband?

The only problem with Altoids is that you can't buy them in the UK. It's so stupid - they say 'made in Great Britain' on them, but they are not sold in this country!

Seabands/travel bands are a good idea if you don't want to take tablets every day.

I am packing like 12 tins of altoids then... or my stomach will never forgive me!

I don't know that Ginger Altoids have enough ginger in them to rely on.  I would stick with crystallized ginger, which is sold in both countries.

The local seacat service used to give everyone ginseng tea before travel, and you can buy ginseng in pill form.  (The tea smells horrible).  Don't know if it works... I took it and was OK, though.. and I get motionsick on the big ferries.

That is a good thing to know. The peppermint ones do work wonders for my tummy though!

Seabands are a godsend! I don't usually have problems with motion sickness but boats make me pretty queasy. Anyway, I went on a cruise about 7 years ago and bought them. The cruise was horrible. Staff members, passengers, etc were ALL sick. I started feeling absolutely terrible as waves were really really bad. We had to sail through really rough waters. I put the bands on and was one of the only passengers to feel fine the rest of the journey. Seriously, they are a harmless way to make you feel better. I highly recommend them

Can I ask a dim question? Where do you wear the bands?

Usually on your wrists. They have a pressure-point which corresponds with a point on your inner wrist and it's supposed to stop the feelings of sickness.

I am definitely getting some of those. I get queasy in the back seats of cars and buses, in airplanes, and in small boats. I've never been on a larger boat though, just smaller ones like for fishing.
