Aren't the theatres in Stratford closed for refurbishment?

We went into London a couple of weekends ago and saw Love's Labour's Lost at the Globe. We got the 5 pound standing only tickets and I thought it would be hard to stand that whole time, but it wasn't bad at all and we really  had a fun time!

I saw The Merchant of Venice at The Globe a few months ago.  Brilliant, and cheap!

OMG, have I missed something while I was away?  Pammy, are you soon to be hearing the patter of little feet?

I know there is some refurbishment of the theatres in Stratford but I'm pretty sure that the Royal Shakespeare is still up and running!  Both kids have seen plays there this year.

The RSC also performs at other theatres aside from the Globe (I saw Antony & Cleopatry with Patrick Stewart at the Novello in the spring).

Check their sites on the web and you'll get all the up to date info.  As far as tickets for Stratford, I've always had to get tickets wayyyyyyyyyyyyy in advance, particularly for any production of note (or with a big name).

I saw Twelfth Night in Stratford.  Wonderful!!!  I haven't seen anything at the Globe yet, but, I have toured it (worth just for the tour!).

Is this the 12th night they're doing now?  I wish I could get there in time to see it.  It's my favorite comedy.

How long was the performance?  You didn't stand for 3 hours did you?

Yes, we did!  :) The performance was 2 hrs. 40 mins with a 15min. break between. We brought in sandwiches and sat on the ground then and ate them. It wasn't that bad really! The most important thing was that we had great weather and weren't getting rained on!

Nope, it was in 2001, I think (its been awhile).  Its my favorite comedy too!  And the very first Shakespeare show I ever took the stage in!  I played Viola!

Was in Stratford today. The theatre appears to still be under renovation. Lots of skips and cranes surrounding it.  :-\\\\
