My Sad News

I just received some sad news last night. I work at a school for boys with Emotional, Social and Behaviour Disorders. I have worked there for 3.5 years. Not long after I started we got a new boy who had a huge history of problems. I spent a lot of time helping him transition into school and even got my father-in-law to allow him to work with him for his work experience. He left school with his GCSE's last year.

I saw him about a month ago. Life hasn't been easy since leaving school. Last night I found out he died of an overdose.

I am not surprised, but I am very sad.

That is so sad, HG.  I've worked with special needs and regular ed kids for years, and you do get so attached to them.  I've been battling my own kids' addictions and it's a nightmare.  Seems drug use is everywhere.  We also just had a boy commit suicide who went to school with mine.  He was bipolar and severely depressed.  You just wonder what on Earth is going on with this generation.

That's very sad. Poor kid.

CT*Glasgow*CT- I am sorry to hear you are living through somenone battling substance abuse. It is a nightmare. It is unfortunate that so many need to escape reality.
