Paperwork confusion
« on: August 24, 2007, 04:00:31 PM »
We took the dogs to get their vets certificates a few weeks ago, they got the 3rd country vets cert, and he also filled out the Aphis 7001. I told them we werent going to be leaving for about 2 months, but they said that was fine and that they needed to send off both forms to the USDA vet. Id remembered reading there was a time limit on the Aphis, and that is 10 days for international travel right? So I called them and told them not to send off the forms yet, adn that I would need a new Aphis nearer the time.

Whats bothering me is with this 10 days expiration, they are wanting to send off the Aphis to California (there isnt a USDA vet in our state) and Im worried it wont get back to us in time. Im not convinced this Aphis even needs to be sent off to the USDA vet, I thought it was just the rabies documentation? I told them this, but they are convinced it needs to go for stamping too?....

Can someone clarify this for me?

The APHIS has to go as it HAS to be stamped by a USDA vet.

Yup, everything's got to be endorsed by the USDA vet.  I brought every bit of paperwork that I owned with me to my appointment, and she stamped/sealed most of it.  ;D
