Virgin Pet Flight Booking- Good News!
« on: August 27, 2007, 05:43:11 PM »
I just spoke with Virgin Atlantic on the US side and I have some good news for people.  Many people believe that you can only book your pet's flights two weeks ahead of time.  NOT TRUE!

I just booked both my dogs on a November 13th flight out of Boston.  I will book my ticket once I have my visa and will book it for the same flight.  If I can't get a ticket on that date, I can call the Pet Area and have them move my dogs to the flight I could get.

THIS DOESN'T COST YOU ANYTHING!!!  It is free to book as you pay on the day of departure.  It also allows you to change your pets departure date much more easily because you already have them booked.

I hope that this helps some people out!  Happy Flying!  ;D

Good to know! We are likely flying ours back with Virgin unaccompanied for dad to pick up in October, but UK to US... I tried calling Continental and they do not "deal with members of the public" here in the UK...

Very good to know. Hope it's the same policy on this side, too.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

This is how it was when I flew my cats to the UK on Continental. I had called at least 3 months in advance. They booked them on my flight, but I had to call again 10 days before I left to reconfirm everything.  I know they kept my booking that entire time because they had to contact me regarding changing the flight from Bristol to Gatwick. I didn't pay anything until I dropped them off at the airport.

That's interesting, Bmore.  All the airlines were telling me no more than 2 weeks ahead of actual flight.  But, I guess it pays to call and ask questions!  ;D

Maybe they could sense my hair was being pulled out one strand at a time and they decided perhaps they should just humor me!  ;D

Ha Ha!  That could be it, you know!  I have to admit, Virgin has been beyond wonderful everytime I deal with them.  Seriously, it is a pleasure having people so helpful during such a stressful time.

No Bmore, Continental was the same with me, I called them and booked my flight for myself and my dog to the UK in April.  I just had to reconfirm ten days in advance.  I found them extremely helpful, and pet friendly.  I hope the same is true for Virgin and your flight Dar.

Thanks, Chary!  Once I have that visa in my hand, I can start making more solid plans.  I can't wait!

on BA World Cargo you can't book any cargo, pets or otherwise, more than 14 days in advance of the flight -- or so they told me over and over. I talked to both the actual cargo office and the pets passport desk. That's only British Airways though.  Glad that Virgin is different... it sure is nervewracking the other way and would have saved me some stress!

I had the same experience (not surprising, as we flew from the same airport) - Dar, I'm glad that Virgin are cutting you a bit of slack! :D  It's always nice when things unexpectedly work out, isn't it? :D
