Co-endorsing checks (cheques)
« on: August 27, 2007, 01:09:38 PM »
Do banks allow co-endorsement of cheques over here?

I might be getting a cheque issued to me in GBP, but don't have an account over here. Is it possible to sign the check over to my partner and have him deposit it in his account?

I know only some banks allow you to do this with checks in the US, and when I mentioned the practice to the boyfriend, he'd never heard of such a thing.

TIA.
Another shameless promotion for www.mclevey.com, the best place on the internet to buy art.

I had a cheque issued to me and my university jointly (student loans) and my bank here (Natwest) wouldn't touch it because it wasn't made out solely to me.  I had to get the cheque re-issued in my name only.
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

No, UK banks do not allow that. You would have to have the payer make the cheque out to your BF. Or open your own account, or be added to your BF's account.
