Maybe that makes a difference.  Like I said, I don't know; I just remember it being a bit thing in the 80s.  I'd probably take your dentist's recommendation over mine.

They have never not been around.  My parents have always used one, I tried and foundmy teeth became more sensitive.  I think it depends on your teethy issues.

I just received a reply to my query from Waterpik tech support.  They didn't actually tell me the type of motor employed in the WP-40W, but said they do not recommend using it on other frequencies, which suggests it may well be a synchronous motor.

They forwarded this link to the U.K. distributor for current 240V 50Hz versions:
