U.S. and Canadian dollars
« on: November 04, 2007, 10:15:00 PM »
I thought some might be interested to read this story:

As I'm looking at xe.com (http://www.xe.com/) right now, the Canadian dollar stands at US$0.93554, and there is a special note to remind users that this means "the CAD is worth more than the USD."

It surprises me because it's never happened before in my lifetime.

Yup, the US dollar is 1.07 Canadian!!!

When I lived in the US in 1998-2004, for the first three years, we were paid in Canadian dollars, and the CDN was 1.63 US dollars!!

Man, I wish we were paid in CDN dollars now!

I have to buy a ticket for my daughter for travel in the US and I'll be paying with CDN dollars. For the first time, that is a good thing!

WHAT?!

Holy crap.  I never thought I'd see the day.

This is actually really depressing.
The chances are there's a reason we've been left here, but I'm not disappointed.  - Idlewild

In the 1970s, CAD was on par with USD, about 1977, but I can never recall when it's been worth more. I'm looking forward to going to Seattle in the new year now from BC.
