SCA

Just wondering of any of you are members of the SCA here in the UK.  I used to play in the US before I joined the Navy over 5 years ago and I'd like to get back into it but I want to hear more about how it is here.

Whoa!!!! I just googled and came up with this!!

My wife and I were members in the US. Here in St Andrews we are part of a related group at the University. They were a SCA group for a while then went their own way, so are not officially members, but have lots of ties. Alas, we have too busy this year to do much with them. I have a friend who is in the University group and his old SCA group as well.

I'm still in the US, but I'm hoping to keep my ties to the SCA after I move, and I want to try to go back to Pennsic every year or at least every other year if possible.  This year I took my boyfriend with me, and it was very interesting since we'd been to authentic Medieval sites in Scotland and Pennsic was just.... funny.  lol.  I corrupted him at the Pennsic Virgin party and we ended up with the nickname "field Fornicators".

Good times. 

I didn't know the SCA existed in the UK.  I *almost* joined about 10 years ago.  But I ended up getting involved in something else which took up all my free time.  The SCA actually how I met my ex--at an SCA party.  I've never been to Pennsic but I have heard of its wild reputation!
