anyone flown FlyBe with kids?
« on: November 02, 2007, 03:39:45 PM »
My in-laws have somehow come up with the airfare for us to go see them at Christmas (Exeter to Newcastle). Does anyone know how they are with extra baby stuff? We're going to need to take DS's travel cot and car seat, as well as his stroller and our suitcases. We don't seem to be able to find anything on their site about luggage restrictions...
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I believe you have to pay for anything other than hand luggage on flybe (£5 per item if booked online, £9 on the day).  You also have to pay to book your seating preferences, otherwise they just allocate them on the day.

I haven't flown them with kids but I have used them quite frequently for business related travel.  They are pretty much my least favourite airline.

Start booking the flight and you'll watch the charges accumulate! I know RyanAir asks when you're about to complete your booking if you're flying with baby items. I haven't checked it since it doesn't apply to me.  ;)

Just FYI in case you decide top change airline, BMI did not charge anything to put a carseat & pushchair in the outsize baggage.

BMI don't fly from Exeter I don't think. :(

I've only flown FlyBe once, but I was NOT impressed. In addition to the charges already mentioned, if you opt to check in online and print your boarding pass and, heaven forbid, lose it, they charge you something like £10 to print a new one.  :o

Plus I got an idiot person at check-in who didn't see that my bag was prepaid, pinched my boarding pass, stuck a sticker on my passport and told me to go over to the ticket desk where they would give me a new one. So the guy at the ticket desk tried to charge me again for my bag. But at least he was nice when I explained the situation, and printed me a new boarding pass, without charging me for it. Of course all of this was at 5.30 in the morning when I'm not a happy camper anyway! :P
