Ordering American food online.....
« on: February 22, 2007, 02:03:23 PM »
I just found, what seems to be a great site. It's called Overseas Buyers Club. You can purchase all kinds of food and drink from back home, as well as some other things. I think I'm going to give it a try, since I'm in need of some CoffeeMate French Vanilla creamer!!! =)
Has anyone else order from this site?

Site address, incase anyone is interested....

Hello there,

I have ordered from there before and they do have a large selection to choose from. The delivery charge used to be £20 but has gone down to £10. If you order a large amount of food, then its a reasonable fee, but it can get very expensive when you see all that good food we remember in the States. I always order way too much but have never had any problems with the delivery or the goods. The other company that supplies American food is Skyco. Its been mentioned on here as well. In the past few years, the variety of food has lessened (you used to be able to get beef jerky) but they are very reasonably priced and delivery very quickly. I hope you enjoy that coffee mate!

After 5 years overseas, I find the only food item I truly miss is pancake syrup - and that's mainly to give the kids a treat.  I was excited to see another site and impressed with their selection but I can't justify paying those prices!  We are lucky to have Lupe Pintos within reach which saves on delivery (Mexican Deli in Glasgow - also has an on line shop) for the occasional purchase of Aunt Jemima, brownie mix and black beans.

Any suggestions on where to look for canned black beans (Scotland)?  I've tried the local supermarkets to no avail...

Is there Waitrose in Scotland?  I've found (unseasoned) tinned black beans there, and add my own spices to them.

Also, as far as pancake syrup, Lyles does a great maple-flavoured syrup in plastic bottles for 99p.  Works for my US-born teens!

Thanks!  I'll look for the Lyle's version as the two bottles (at £5.90) of Aunt Jemima's bought a few weeks ago are gone.  Have been told no Waitrose in Scotland  :( but did discover the Tesco in Govan has huge International Food section with loads of choices from all over!

They're not canned but I always get my black beans from local asian shops. They come dried.  I've also found dried black beans at Sainsburys.

Lupe Pintos in Edinburgh (and Glasgow) has canned black beans.
