I think in the U.S. or UK, it's considered polite to offer snacks to guests, unless they are just dropping by for a few moments (and to never go to someone's house empty-handed). Nachos are always tasty and easy; we buy Tesco brand tortilla chips (very cheap and tasty), melt cheese on top, and serve with Tesco brand salsa (also cheap and tasty). You can go all out and add ground beef, sour cream, etc. You could also try some of the pre-packaged appetizers and snacks, like mini samosas and spring rolls (they have these in vegetarian if you need that), or mini sausage rolls.
