I suggest you speak with a dual US/UK attorney on the structure as against someone with only a US tax qualificaton.  The structure of the ownership requires legal advic and drafting.

Given the amount of money involved in any house you want and need legal advice that both the US and UK courts would find acceptable.

Mortgages, incidentally, are not taken into account for US capital gains tax purposes.

Luckily I'll be working with just such lawyers, so really what I will need help on is the actual tax stuff (whatever that consists of)
