DC site visits requiring congressional help
« on: December 01, 2007, 10:51:46 PM »
Does anyone have experience with getting the necessary invites etc in order to visit the White House tour when in DC? If you live in the states you can write to a congressman (or woman) and they get you some package to clear you in. Living over here I haven't found anything on the US Embassy website to help me figure out who to bother about this.

Any experience appreciated.

Paul

I would write to whoever the congressman was where you grew up, or if you lived somewhere else a long time, write to him.

Either the state you grew up in, or call someone on the foreign relations committee?  Also, you might want to ask about other tours you can take.

I know you can get tickets to see the Senate in action (ohhh feel the excitement) and tours of the Capitol building.  I know they suspended tours of the dome about 7 years ago due to damage by grubby hands, but I am not sure if they ever resumed.

According to my old boss's website white house tours requests must be submitted 5-6 months in advance and capitol tours 3 months in advance.  Yikes!  We used to have those tickets just lying around the office.
