I am leaving this Friday to move to England and I'm landing in Manchester on Saturday morning. I have means of playing my DVDs in the UK, as well as a way of using my PS2 via adapters and my husband's tv, so I plan on bringing my (slim) PS2 and some games with me. I have the opportunity of using all of these, so I wanted to take advantage of it! Right now, I have upwards of 30+ DVDs/games in luggage between 2 suitcases and a carryon (more may be left behind because I'm running into overweight issues)...do they have any issues with bringing in your own personal DVDs, video games, and consoles? I'm just wondering if it'd be less of a hassle to ship a couple (or few) boxes of DVDs and games to myself. TIA.

Would there be any difference if they were Cds and not DVDs?  I came over with loads of CDs in my checked luggage.  It never occurred to me it could be an issue.  I mean they're not pirated, right?  And you don't intend to sell them.  I bet it's fine. But I won't swear by that.  :-\\\\

Oh they're definitely all legit and I never intend on selling them. I just wondered if it'd look weird to them to have so many DVDs (I am paranoid and don't want my things taken off me  ::))

It's usually an issue if it looks like you are trying to import the CDs/DVDs to sell them in the UK. If they are your own collection, you shouldn't have any problems - I brought several CDs, DVDs (about 30 or so) and books back into the UK with me at the end of my US study abroad year and had no problems at all.

I think you'll be fine.  I'd say if they were all still in their original packaging and looking brand new they might think you'd be trying to sell them, but they're not.  I imagine it's normal for someone in your position (moving over) to have so many in his / her luggage.

A friend of mine moved to Ireland and had one whole entire suitcase filled with Irish music  CDs.  It popped open when she was getting it off the luggage belt thing and a famous Irish musician saw and helped her get them back in!  Needless to say she was thrilled.
