Looking for a houseshare or rental in Slough or nearby
« on: December 23, 2007, 04:35:39 PM »
Hi all,

This forum is awesome and has quelled alot of the nervousness Ive had about my move. One thing im trying to look into is an apartment for when I arrive. My company has given me a generous stipend for housing for the 1st six months or so and would rather spend it on an apartment then a hotel.

Is anyone here renting in the Slough/Windsor/Eton area? im looking to live with some younger professionals that still like to go out and have a good time / travel etc... I figure it will be a good way to meet people.

Thanks y'all

John

You can try these websites:

http://www.moveflat.co.uk
http://www.flatmateclick.co.uk

I found my flatshare on the last site. Good luck.

I don't actually have any ideas for you but if you can, try to stick with Windsor or Eton. They are just so much nicer and you can walk everywhere!  We live in Windsor now but are moving out in January and I am so going to miss the quaintness and convenience of living right in town center!

Good luck!

For working in Slough, I will again recommend Ealing. (I accidentally recommended it to someone else in a different thread.) The commute could be done easily on National Rail and you would have much better access to central London if that is important to you. Ealing is brimming with single professionals of all ages and very multicultural.

I also know of a girl working in Slough who has chosen to live in Chiswick and drive to work via the M4. Again, you're commuting against the traffic so it's not so bad. She wanted to be closer to London and does not regret it at all.

Try some of the local papers' classfieds, the ones I know about are the Slough Observer and Maidenhead Advertiser:
