Christmas eve...
« on: December 23, 2007, 09:04:25 AM »
DH and I are having my BIL and his gf over for Christmas eve, but I have no idea what to make.

I'm working tomorrow and although I may get off early, it can't be something that'll have me in the kitchen all day.

Any ideas?

If you're pushed for time, why not have something simple like broiled steaks with mushrooms and onions on top.. with garlic mash and garlic green beans????

You could easily throw that together in less than 45 minutes and it's pretty yummy and looks well presented...(with some fab dessert thrown in as well.)

I like the idea of a good homemade soup.  You can do it today and it will be twice as nice tomorrow.  Reheat, serve with bread and salad.  Easy peasy!

I think Yael is vegetarian! But not sure about her guests.

I like Cait's soup idea or what about pasta with a couple of different sauces, you could do a veggie one and a meaty one.  Or some kind of skewers with a rice dish, they are pretty quick and easy to make. You could do halloumi or tofu or meat ones.

Thanks for the ideas everyone! We've decided to make pasta with two different sauces (plus meatballs for them), garlic bread and salad.  Easy but yummy.

Dessert will be my cookies :)
