Transatlantic travel to the UK instead of Plane ???

We do not fly often and my question is does anyone know if the QE2 or other ship offers one way travel to the UK? I am a British citizen. Can I bring the dog also? Thanks GO-REDS

yes... a few people here have done it.
Why not look at the QE2 website?!

There was a thread on this about 9 months ago or so.  However even the cheapest fare at the cheapest time of year (not the QE2 but it was maybe Queen Mary?) was still expensive.

Some people said it was a good deal because they were moving over to the UK and  had loads of excess luggage which would have cost $$ to ship or take on the plane.

There is also a freight boat which takes passengers as well (not exactly luxury travel)l--it goes from Liverpool to Philadelphia.  It goes slower than a cruise ship--takes twice as long.  I considered it briefly but at $1300 it was no bargain for me.

yep, you can take the Queen Mary 2 from New York to Southampton or vice versa (I really would love to do this one day!)  It's pricey, though.  I think the QM is an approved route for the PETS scheme, but don't quote me on that.

We did NY to UK on the QM2 a couple of years ago...it was absolutely fabulous!  We travelled on the last eastbound crossing of the season (end October/beginning November) and it cost us under $800 each for quad occupancy cabin.  I thought it was a fantastic deal considering that the price included lodging and meals for the 6 days as well as transport.  Because we travelled from Utah I had to factor in the cost of travel to NY, but found a way cheap one-way flight.  No trouble at all getting a train in Southampton to where we needed to go.  We used a travel agent that specialized in cruises, didn't book through Cunard's website...

Also, QM2 does (did?) have kennel facilities on board, check the PETS scheme to make sure they're still an approved carrier.

I just read that online the QE2 has set out on its last worldwide cruise, so you will have to take the QM2 instead.
