turning cake into cookies

If you have a box of cake mix, but don't really fancy cake and would really prefer cookies (soft and chewy, not cakey)... what would you add to the cake mix to make them?

I did a quick Google search and came up with these hits:

http://www.google.com/search?q=cookies+from+a+cake+mix&sourceid=ie7&rls=com.microsoft:en-US&ie=utf8&oe=utf8

Does any of that help?

I feel like a total idiot!  :-[
Im usually the first one to say 'google it!' when someone asks a question... but i have to say it never even occurred to me -- not even a flicker-- to look at google for this!

Many thanks!
A lesson learned.  ;)

Ah, we can't all be perfect all the time!!!! ;) :D

TBH, I didn't think I'd get many hits, but it's obviously a popular thing to do!

I wouldn't have thought to google either bit rather just add less liquid and whatever mixer.

i was specifically trying to make them chewy, so i thought i might need to add oil or butter or leave out the eggs, or something.  I followed a recipe on one of those links, but they just came out like little semi-flat cakes.   I wanted a chewy cookie, so i wasn't happy with it.
I do appreciate being pointed toward those links, though... i guess i just chose the wrong one!
