Transferring Two-Year Education
« on: January 16, 2008, 07:25:25 PM »
I've recently graduated with an A.A. in General Education from a community college here in the States. Initially, I intended to complete my Bachelor's degree here, then do my Master's in the UK.  Now I'm beginning to seriously consider transferring to a UK uni to complete my Bachelor's (mainly due to my desperation of wanting to move back home to the UK). Does anyone have any experience with or knowledge about transferring an A.A. degree to a uni in the UK? I'd like to get an idea of how easy or difficult that might be.  Also, if anyone has any opinions on whether or not I should finish my degree here or in the UK, I'd appreciate them. Thanks!

I think it really depends on what your major is going to be and where you are in the US. Studying over here can be very expensive compared to some US schools. (That's not always the case... For my grad school course, I'm actually saving money by going here due to the cost of the few universities in the US where I could get a similar degree.)

Have you looked at the British Council site? It might have some information about transferring over on an AA.

Thank you! I will have a look :)  I've requested information from all the uni's I'm interested in, so hopefully I can get some feedback from them as well.

I've found that admissions officers and international officers at UK unis are really helpful. (More helpful than any of their US counterparts I've dealt with over the years.) It might be worth making a phone call or sending an e-mail to one of the unis to find out for sure.
