Heathrow Express to Paddington
« on: January 22, 2008, 09:38:01 PM »
This is going to be my first trip out, where I won't have a ride from the airport. How easy is it to understand how to figure out Heathrow express to Paddington? Then from Paddington I have to take the bakerloo line to queen's park.  ???

Very easy! You just hop on and it takes you there. Queens Park is only a couple of stops from Paddington.

It is easy to find but no matter how you travel, you end up having a hike to get to the stations at Heathrow.

Why pay for it??  Take the Heathrow CONNECT for many pounds less.  It's the same route, just has a few more stops along the way, but still gets you to Paddington in a reasonable amount of time.  The Express is for people who don't know any better (just like the Gatwick Express, Stansted Express, etc.) and are willing to shell a lot of extra money for the convenience.  Most of the time, there are trains that run the EXACT same route with only a few extra stops & you pay significantly less.

I've taken both Connect and Express trains. I think the Connect trains are actually in better shape.

It is a bit frustrating when a train pulls up at Heathrow and you can't get on it because it's an Express, though. When I was coming back from NYC, there was some sort of delay, so I waited almost an hour for a Connect train.

The Express is for people who don't know any better

Or for people who like ease and convenience!  ;D

course you could always take the tube.  I've done it every which way and in the end, I dont' save that much time taking the express.

But if you're going to Paddington (or in this case, Queen's Park) the Connect or Express service is going to be significantly quicker than the Piccadilly line.  For someone (like me), who lives in SW London, the Tube IS quicker.  It all depends on where you're going.

Mine too!! even better if you pre book a minicab to meet you because it will be half the price of a black cab.

My wife did this trip whenever she was flying back from the USA and she found it easy even with the boys, she jumped on the express then it was about £15 to paddington st, then she jumped in a cab as she was so tired after the flight £8-£10 back then it could well of changed price wise now.
I hope we get better weather with the new year I am getting rained out.

Good luck to everyone with respective visa applications.
