Peanut Butter
« on: February 01, 2008, 05:28:11 PM »
I've seen a few comments on here about being able to find peanut butter that doesn't contain added oil.
Vistied York and Whitby the last 2 days shwoing my OH from NJ around.....and in Whitby in an small food store selling natural and local produce we found Meridian natural peanut butter (noth smooth and crunchy), she prefers smooth so we bought that - £1.20 for 280gms. Very nice, best peanut butter I've had in the UK...don't get the "cloggy" mouth!
The company is based in Hampshire so I guess it can be found around the country - and the ingredients - Peanuts Skin On (100%) - nothing else!

I'm a cashew butter fan.

When my daughter was younger, she had a peanut allergy, so I started checking out other nut butters.  Cashew was the closest in looks, taste and consistency to the peanut butter she'd eaten prior to diagnosis.  I've come to prefer it over peanut butter.  She can eat the latter now, but I like cashew butter.

oo where did you get that? Never heard of it but if it is without any nuts that might be ok for my youngest. He has NEVER tasted peanut butter as he has a terrible nut allergy.

Oooh, all the nut-butters sound so yummy!   :P  If your OH is a fan of Skippy I know Sainsbury's tend to sell it (and Costco sell it in mahoosive 2kg jars).   ;)

Genau have you gotten around to trying the pumpkin seed butter?
