Questions about first trip back to US since moving
« on: February 12, 2008, 12:46:17 PM »
Hi Everyone,
I haven't been on here in AGES.... really since right after we actually moved to the UK, and we have been here for a year and a half now! How time flies!
Anyway, we are getting ready to go back to the US for a visit... finally..... and while I know the procedures and which passport to use for my husband and boys (dual citizens).... I am wondering about what to do for myself. I have a ILE visa, so it is a perm. residency spousal visa. I have a friend here who also has this and says that she usually goes through the UK residents line when re-entering the UK from a visit from the US as she is going through with her husband (UK citizen). Is this correct? Do you think that I would have any problem going through the line with my husband and kids, or should I go through the visitors line as I am not really a visitor, I am a UK resident now?
BTW... we finally have bought our own house in Wales! I am very happy to be permenatley settled! Hope everyone is well and any help would be great!

I just go to whatever line is shorter, in my experience if you are traveling as a family, you should all go through together. I have had experiences when we went through seperately where the IO made me go and find my husband to go through together. I always carry the out of date passport with me that has my original ILR stamp and a copy of my marriage certificate.

Good Luck!!
