Best Under-Dress "Control" Options (NEED ADVICE)

I'm just gonna throw it out there as it's no huge secret...I have quite the "bubble" butt, and at a "towering" 5 feet tall, I feel like I look like a little treasure troll in my dress. The front is gorgeous and I have just a simple, strapless bra (since I can't wear a corset due to the lace-up style on the back)...no wardrobe malfunctions there. However, in the back, when I look in the mirror, once the torso part of my dress reaches the top of my rear, there's almost a little "shelf" of sorts and I'm wondering what undergarment would be best in reducing this appearance, without making me feel like a grandmother with huge bloomers.

Any suggestions on something low-cost/effective? (Is sexy even an option here, hehe?)

I have gotten a pair of Spanx 'Slim Cognito'....FANTABULOUS!!
Not exactly sexy, but not hideous either, and very comfortable.

Before you do anything, I think you should ask others' opinions of what you look like without any "control". - People who you trust to give you honest opinions and not lie to make you feel good. - As long as it's not saggy (and when you say "shelf" I get the impression that it's not), a large bum can look quite sexy, making your waist look tiny in comparison and giving you a sexy wiggle. You might look best without any "minimisation."

I'm just looking for a smoother, more contoured flow from my waist and around my bum. At the moment, my torso comes down nice and smooth in the dress until you get to the upper half of my rear..then it just pops out (also making my dress appear a bit shorter in the back, hehe)...so I'm trying to look into some options for smoothing that area out a bit. Lipo aside...there's no hiding my "assets." 

I have a huge butt and I found that magic knickers..altho made my bum look smaller made the middle part of my body round my waist more lumpy    When my dress was bustled tho..it wasn't a huge ( pardon the pun ) problem 

I have a big bubble butt too, so I'm curious to hear what others recommend. Unfortunately I have no ideas to contribute. I will say though that this image popped into my head immediately when reading the thread.

but why does she wear her pants on the outside of her tights? 

M&S has an awesome high wasted, control top pantyhose that actually goes all the way up your bra so it smothes everything from your bra down.  I love them for just that extra bit of smoothing!  You can't tell in this picture but they really do go all the way up to the bra...

Oh girlfriend I feel your pain - when I was my BF's maid-of-honour the seamstress doing my alterations said I looked sway backed thanks to my huge butt.  Even when I'm thin my butt does the shelf thing. 

I'd say try Spanx - maybe something like this:

If it's high waisted you'll avoid the muffin top issue - you want to suck stuff in rather than just displace it elsewhere!

Oh and I know you say you already have your bra, but the more push up you can get, the smaller your waist will look!
