Workout DVD for my Mom?
« on: March 28, 2004, 12:40:09 AM »
Hey everyone :)

My Mom has been trying very hard to stick to her diet and has had some success and I am proud of her :D. However, because of the divorce procceedings and a total lack of financial funds right now she cannot really afford to join a gym yet.

I would like to surprise her with a DVD sent via snail mail! :D Yet I am not really sure what to get her... . I wouldn't say she is very flexible, and she is substantially overweight. What kind of dvd might I look into getting for her that would raise her cardio rates while also tonning up her muscles? Something that is for the beginner, longer and will not make her *bored.*

I love yoga, bellydance and Bhangra workout dvds...but its not her cuppa lol! ;)

thank you,

Samantha***

I was thinking about this since yesterday.  My cousin is (actually, was) substantially overweight and she lost a lot of weight with these "walking" dvd's.  I think the name of of the instructor is Leslie Sansone.  I know it's Leslie, but the Sansone part I'm not positive.  Anyway, they have all these different levels, but my cousin said that even though it sounds kind of boring, she loved it and it was great for her since her activity level was a zero and she needed to get back in shape pronto.

I have heard that these "Walking Away the Pounds" videos are good as well.  They're not really my cup of tea, but might be just perfect for your mom to begin on. ;D

I love Leslie Sansone!  I've been using her videos for about two years now and they have been fantastic.  Great workout for hips and thighs and the cardio is just right for me.   I especially love that even the most unco-ordinated person in the world (that'd be me!) can do them without falling on her face or feeling like a complete idiot.  I highly recommend them!

I'm "substantially overweight" as well and have lost 50lbs with Leslie's help!  THere are very few videos I can do at all, so these have been great.  In fact, my 73 year old grandma back in the US has started using them, so they really are for everyone.  :)
