Can't find a step down converter!

Where do I find one?  I just need it for my external hard drive but can't seem to find the silly thing anywhere!

Hi Dar,
Instead of buying a step down transformer for just an external hard drive, buy a UK power supply unit with the same output power as what the current power supply has. Most External drives come with a mains to D.C adapter and take an input between 110-240 volts with say a 5V 100 mA output the other side.  These are available for like £5 or so from places like argos and maplin etc.

Of course, get a power step down transformer if you have other US electronics you wish to power off it...

Cheers, DtM! West London & Slough UK!

Oh yes, it does have the DC adapter thingy.  I will look on Argos then as well!  Thanks!

Arg, don't know which one of these I need.  Looks like a trip to Maplin is in order.

Take look at the voltage and current ratings of the existing power supply unit, the type of connector to fit the drive, and the polarity, then match up with the equivalent U.K. model.

Voltage and connector polarity must match up.  For the current rating, it's O.K. if the U.K. model is rated higher than the existing unit, but not lower.
