Glasgow letting that allows cats
« on: January 31, 2008, 10:26:03 PM »
We are doing our homework on moving to Glasgow. We will look to rent a flat, hopefully around the west end. Only stipulation is that we have cats.

Does anyone know any agents in the area of Glasgow that will work with you if you have cats? I've tried to search, but wasn't able to find specifics.  The letting search engines don't have an option to select pet friendly letting.

We will be there the week of the 11th, so hoping to get in contact with a few agents while there.

Any information would be helpful.
I made it!!

The best thing to do is to pick your property and admit right out you have pets and ask if there is room for negotiation.  You may have to pay a higher damage deposit but if you are a seemingly good applicant, they may be willing to work with you.  Go property x property rather than by agent x agent.

Just an FYI

Clyde Properties, letting agent co, does not allow pets per their company policy.

I am not sure about letting agencies, they are quite tough most of the time. However, if you do nto mind from a private landlord you might have some luck. Try:

Glasgow West End: http://www.glasgowwestend.co.uk/
GumTree: http://glasgow.gumtree.com/

Thanks Greg. We have decided to move just outside of Stirling. This allows us to work out of either Glasgow or Edinburgh if we do not have traveling jobs.

We were given a wonderful opportunity to rent a house through a private party and they have no issues with our cats!!!

Hey that is great! It is something I keep wanting to do, get out of Glasgow and move towards Stirling and take the train in.... maybe with next job and more money!

It is relatively cheap though £6 or so for a cheap day return to Stirling from Glasgow Queen St. Stirling also has asy access to great hiking!

Good to hear!  Same for us, down in Redcar - private landlords are the way to go! :)

Thats awesome!!!

And very heartening for me, as when we move in two years we'll have three kitties to transport as well!
