This follows a Watchdog report:

Nothing about tenants' rights, but at least it's a start.

Interesting. I'm pretty sure the letting agency we originally let this place through is doing the same thing to our landlords (who we deal directly with, and pay directly). We have just sent them this link, as we were very unimpressed with the company, and don't think they should have to pay them any further commissions, since they did not do anything to negotiate or persuade us to stay beyond our initial lease.

;D I was very amused to read this post. Foxtons are renowned in London for two things.

a) Being one of the biggest agencies in London & Surrey.
b) Also being one of the most hated.

Their dubious practices have been raised in the past and were caught up in a scandal which featured on BBC's 'Whistleblower' programme. Their staff were caught on camera (amongst many other things) fraudulently signing landlords signature in order to get their commissions before the end of the month, by scanning the copy of the signature and pasting it onto the contracts, a practice they referred to as 'Chop Chop'.

It is of no surprise to me at all, that once again, they have been caught out. They really should clean up their act and employ competent staff, before someone sues them.
