Irelande Douze Pointe (Eurovision!!)
« on: March 02, 2008, 07:20:23 AM »
Just wondering if anyone else is interested/bizarrely fascinated/slightly obsessed with Eurovision?

Andy Abraham was sweet in an aww you've got my sympathy vote, I would have definitely picked the girl group that sounded like The Pipettes. They totally had an awesome cheesy pop feel. At the very least I would have bought a single  ;D

And if you haven't seen it.. Ireland's Eurovision entry is the funniest thing I've seen this week. Irelande douze pointe!

I really have never been more proud of being 50% Irish than at this point  [smiley=2thumbsup.gif]  ;) (LOL!!)

For some reason the Ireland entry reminds me of the Ukraine's entry last year.  Obviously sans the turkey!  Just the sound of it.

I agree with you about the girl group.  I really think they would do better.

I watched Eurovision last year thinking I'd hate it (DH put that thought in my mind!), but I really liked it!  I can't wait for this year :)

When is the main competition scheduled for this year?

Looks like 24 May.

Didn't see last night's show but saw the Andy Abrahams song on the news this morning - better than our last few entries I'd say but probably not manic enough to win over the europop crowd.

Eurovision is the funniest show I've ever seen, I love it! I didn't see the show last night but I'm glad Andy Abrahams won. It's nice for the UK to have a "normal" entry for a change!

Normal doesn't win Eurovision. Catchy, poppy, and nonsensical wins Eurovision. Again, the British public didn't vote to win. Its a real shame that...

Its all political voting anyway, but it would be really fantastic to have had a fantastic entry this year like Michelle Gayles, she would have been a fantastic ambassador for the UK. What a shame. I was actually really quite angry last night that the boring soul song won. But to each his own huh?

Oh, it's definitely political. No matter what song is sung, it always boils down to politics. Which means that all of the UK will be voting for Ireland's puppet.  ;D

Andy won because so many people thought he should have won Pop Idol. I'm delighted...he's from near where I was born (Enfield, North London).

Michelle Gayle couldn't have won it...she's a pain in the @rse.  I think it is much better to give the job to someone who is trying to build a career than someone who had a failed career that she is scrabbling to get back.

But it doesn't mean anything anyway.

Spain vote for Portugal
France vote for Belgium
Turkey never give points to Greece or Israel
Croatia never give points to Yugoslavia
Greece always give points to Cyprus
Denmark, Sweden, Norway all give each other points...

...and everyone hates the UK!!!!

 ;D

This must be cheering news for Rhydian then, another X factor runner up!
