I have to say that eggbeaters, although maybe I'm wrong, can sometimes create a completely different texture or taste in a dish. I have a recipe for the best bread pudding that calls for eggbeaters. I've tried to make the same dish using regular eggs and it's not the same. I thought maybe it was just the one time and tried it again. Still not the same. I would normally not use them as it is easier to use real eggs but sometimes those things are just easier and make sense.

Yeah, that was another reason of mine, that I neglected to post as well...

I'm one of those who totally misses the point of eggbeaters, but thought you all might like to know that I saw a little blurb in the new issue of delicious about a new carton-of-egg-whites product. They're free range as well.

Apparently they're in "selected" Sainsburys branches....

What's the name of the product? I've really missed egg beaters, as I liked the reduced calories and convenience. And the cheese and chive flavor was great!

Free-range AND low-cal?? My fantasies are here!!!
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Nor me.  I have to schlepp myself all the way to Huntingdon if I want them.  They only launched last month according to their site though...maybe they'll expand to being carried by all branches of Sainsbury's.
I refuse to answer that question on the grounds that I don't know the answer.

Yay!!  It's being stocked at Fresh & Wild, this small faux-Whole Foods store that's in Clapham Junction (and other areas of London)!!  Wonder what the price is like!  I miss the convenience of Egg Beaters from home.  I like it when I make scrambled eggs when 1 egg isn't quite enough, but 2 is too many.  Wonder if it will be cheaper or more expensive than buying fresh eggs?

(I'm SO GLAD it's free range!!)

I got all excited, then looked and it's just at selected Sainsbury's -- not one in my town and you can't order it online!  :\\\'(
