Please help. I have phoned fifteen or so car insurance companies and they have given me the run around. I am growing eternally tired of it.
I have had no claims in the USA for seven years, and I am hoping to find a car insurance company that will ACTUALLY count that.
I don't think that I should have to pay such a high premium! I have been driving for 12 years and 7 years no claims.

Please let me know if you have any suggestions.
The odd bit is that Tesco insurance was the only place that treated me like I was a human being.
*Yank or Yankee is one of the lesser derogatory slang terms for any American, whether from New England or not.

*The Oxford English Dictionary states that one of the earliest theories on the word derivation is from the Cherokee word "eankke" for coward as applied to the residents of New England.

You don't hear me calling you a bloody brit, so don't call me a yank!

You can try getting your husband to take out insurance with you as the main driver of your car because they will provide a discount for him for his no claims.  They do not count your USA no claims here and there is no way to get them to.  You are on a US license and they see that as more of a risk.  :(

My husband and I are both insured fully on my car and it cost us about £695 for the year.  Really, that isn't bad considering we are both insured and I am on a US license.
I am the architect of my destiny.

Phone an insurance broker (find one in your Yellow Pages) and let him/her sort you out. Please don't waste your time phoning insurance companies! But, yes, you will have to pay a fairly high premium - just console yourself with the knowledge that it'll drop pretty rapidly every year.  :)

I went with Virgin Car Insuarance as they accepted DH US license without any problems and they allowed me to keep my no-claims from the states (I had a letter from my US car insurance company), but i do have a UK license.  Worth trying them.

Give Adrian Flux a try as well.  Having held a U.K. license before an American license I've not had direct experience of your specific situation, but I've found them pretty good over the years when it comes to getting insurance for "unusual" vehicles in the U.K., so I imagine they may well be able help.

Geico.  They were easy!

We have MoreThan & a Corsa SRI.  It cost us under £400 for me & DH with his no claims bonus.  I have both UK & US licences though.

We always use www.confused.com   Then check the cheapest ones and see how that questions are phrased.  If they straight forward ask how long have you had a license then put that down.  Others will ask specifically how long have you held a UK license then if you'd have to put that down which will increase your premiums.

We changed insurance every year as the old companies would not match the new quotes we had from the website.
