Whatever the freakin foodery (dorm cafeteria) serves up :'(

My family is secular but even I could use a bit of time at home eating something just a wee bit more appetising.

Right now it would be good to be in Milwaukee....

We're having my partner's parents over for Easter lunch, and we're serving salmon crescents for starter, followed by: roast chicken (with two lemons--Marcella Hazan's recipe), roast potatoes, steamed broccoli, boiled sugar-snap peas.  For dessert we're having Chocolate Orange Cake.  I'm baking that now to get it out of the way.

We'll wash it all down with some Montana Vineyards Riesling, which is a favorite of G's mum.

(Then we have about 36 hours to wash up and get the place cleaned up before jetting off to the States for a visit!) LOL

I guess we'll be somewhat traditional this year- leg of lamb braised in orange & red currant, roast potatoes, southern-style green beans, devilled eggs and for dessert, a sugar free (but not calorie free by a long shot) creamy banana puddin!

We had roast pork and turkey, greens, roasted and boiled potatoes, peas, apple & pistachio stuffing and apple streudel w/ice cream for dessert.  Then we had Duncan Hines Spice Cake w/Cream Cheese frosting with our tea and coffee later on!

We started with a hot bacon and lettuce salad and then we had roast lamb with a mustard and herb crust, potato and leek bake, steamed purple sprouting broc, cauliflower and carrots, and finally an apple and almond tart with cream. Yum!  :)

Since I had already done the Hot Cross Buns I made a Caradamom Easter Braid.  YUM!  For dinner we had Rack of lamb with Dijon and bread herb crust, potatoes gratin (with morels, Jalsberg cheese and bacon oh and a bit of garlic and green onion), and minted pea puree.  I did deviled eggs and olives too.  I actually did not make as much this time, but it was just us.

Vnice, I think we did the same lamb recipe!! Dijon mustard, fresh herbs, bread crumbs? I just put ours on leg of lamb rather than the rack. Did you get the recipe from Epicurious or Gourmet Magazine?

Love cardamom, may have to get that recipe from you in exchange for a great cardamom cookie recipe my Mom got in India!?  ;D

Actually I saw it on Martha and then looked it up on Epicurious.  I pretty much followed the whole recipe but had to add a bit of garlic in for good measure. I love garlic.  I also  did the whole rack not just the top part (the crumbs did fall off the underside, but who cares).  The presentation was lovely.  We must have read it others minds.  ;D

Oh do make deviled eggs they are so good!

I wish I had been at some of your houses!  As we did not have off any days around Easter & my family all had alternative plans, I was on my own...I ended up having a basic pasta night.  Sigh.  Maybe next year I'll do it up right.
