Whole new world opening on traveling. ie open skies

An article on major changes in international travel in an article on MSNBC.

Maybe the European cheapo airlines will offer £50 airfares to the US :D
One thing I don't understand is why every airline wants to fly into Heathrow? I would think the landing and other fees would be much more higher for them there. Also, the landing slots must be very limited there. What do I know?
As a passenger I would much prefer landing at a small airport such as Cardiff, Wales or whatever. I've talked to a lot of travelers who feel the same way. In California my fellow travelers would much rather land at Burbank instead of LAX and they plan their trip that way and save their company money. They also use Oakland instead of SFO for the same reason.
There was an article in the last few days of simple airports that the cheapo airlines are going to use in Europe that are less expensive for them. I'm for it. I don't mind walking down the stairs after leaving the aircraft if it saves me a bundle. Can we imagine that if it is pouring with rain. >:(

DH was telling me a couple months ago that Easy Jet are trying to do budget flights to New York.  I just can't imagine knowing how an Easy-anything works!

British Airways has a new airline starting up because of this new agreement.  What's the airline called?  Open Skies.  Not very original is it?  At the moment, I believe they plan to fly from NY to either Brussels or Paris.  It hasn't been decided yet.

I think I'd rather swim to NY than fly there on EasyJet or RyanAir. Two hours in those cramped seats are fine, considering the price. Seven hours I'd consider to be dearly bought no matter how cheap.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

I've not flown them (yet), but from what my boyfriend and other friends have told me, they get you financially on other things.  Like low baggage allowances, which are very easy to break.

Maybe it's about piece of mind but I'd feel safer on a £400 round trip flight to NYC than a £40 or 50 one.  Silly, I guess, but just a gut feeling.
The chances are there's a reason we've been left here, but I'm not disappointed.  - Idlewild
