Welcome to UK-Y :).

I'd be happy to give you some tips, but would be helpful if you could be a bit more specific, as the advice I can give and the things you might find helpful are really going to depend on your situation.

For example, are you the one moving to the UK for school? If so, will you be attending high school, a further education college, a university etc.? Have you already been accepted or are you just starting the application process now? Are you coming to do a degree here (undergraduate? postgraduate?) or will you just be in the UK for a semester/year?

Also, what sort of tips are you looking for? Do you want advice about the academic side of things - how classes work in the UK etc.? Or are you after tips on living arrangements and living costs? Or maybe social life/shops/food etc.?

I'm just now starting to look at universities.

I've got loads of info books that they've sent me, and I'm pretty sure which one I want to go to.

I'm hoping to move to the UK permanently, and work on citizenship while I study.
I've heard that you have to live within the UK for five years after filing for citizenship, and I figure since university takes three years, it'll make the time go all the more faster.

I really could use any and all tips that anyone has, to be honest.

Mainly, how does one go about getting citizenship, and what are the work laws?

Thank you!

Not quite right.

if you come to the UK as a student then you won't automatically qualify for citizenship until you have been here for 10 years.  If your plan is to stay, then your quickest route (assuming that you don't marry a UK/EU resident) is to study for three years then switch to a work permit, which will be valid for 5 years, and you can apply for permanent residency after 5 years on this.  One year after getting this, you can apply for citizenship, so the whole process will take 9 years!

And this is assuming the rules don't change before then, which they probably will.

If you are here as a student, you can only work for 20 hours during term time.
