PANIC-Request for interview

I came home to a message on my answering machine from the NYC consulate stating that the officer would like to interview me. I need to call to schedule a date and time for an interview. Of course by the time I received the message the office was closed! Soo now I wait until tomorrow to find out how long I have to wait for the interview (I am hoping they mean a phone interview).
I am sick to my stomach...I just want this to be over! Did anyone else who applied by mail need to interview..or am I the only "special lucky one"!?!?!!??!

I'm sure it's fine.  If they want a phone interview, it's likely that they just need a little clarification on something or might have a question about a particular piece of documentation.  If they want a face-to-face interview, there's still no need to panic.  If there's anything that's even remotely non-straightforward () about your situation, they're likely to have questions.  Just be calm, polite, and honest and you'll be just fine!  Good luck!  

Did you send in the permissino from your child's father for her visa application?  Just trying to troubleshoot here.

Hi there, I know how you feel about being upset and all but not to worry, I went through the same thing myself only last month and had a telephone interview as well because I had what I thought would be some ''questionable'' reasons for a phone interview (like why I stayed over on my visitors visa for six months & my childs birth certificate) but when they called they asked nothing about it! Instead they simply asked why I wanted to go to the UK and where my husband worked at, things you fill out on the application and the interview lasted not more than five minutes before we had the lady telling us the visas would be sent out the following day which I actually got the next morning!     So try not to worry, and after its all over you will laugh at how worried you were over it in the first place.

yup sent the permission....the only thing I can think of that might have raised their curiosity is that I was born in germany (army brat) and didnt think to explain that anywhere

Update...finally got through to the consulate, I have a phone interview scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) at 2:45...so only another 28 hours or so of panic lol

They'll ask you a few questions, thats all, Theyre remarkably polite and not intimidating. When I did my spousal visa I forgot to send in a brief letter from my wife stating that she supported the application. They phoned me and left a very polite message on my answering machine, I phoned them back, they gave me a fax number to fax it into them and I had my visa the next day via Federal Express. I think if you were gonna have a problem they would have sent you something in writing indicating it.

Yep same for me.  I somehow managed to put in my application to marry and not the marriage cert and they just phoned and gave me a fax number.  It was easy peasy!
