Delays in the post office?
« on: May 09, 2011, 11:14:21 AM »
I had no idea where to post this topic..

I've received most of my post sent within the UK in a timely manner (I think), but I've been expecting mail from the US for WEEKS and neither have shown up. Could all of those holidays we just had in a row, could that have possibly delayed the mail? Is anyone else experiencing this?

Could very well possibly be because of all the bank holidays.  I have seemingly not had a lot of post lately -not sure if its because I have no post or because its not being delivered timely!

The Royal Mail is a common complaint on here!

Could any of it have incurred a custom's charge? We had a gift held for about 2 weeks before we got a letter telling us that we owed VAT because the person who had mailed it to us had taken out ridiculous insurance on it that said the items inside were worth £300. That went over well with DH, let me tell you. (Said friend is no longer allowed to ship us anything without prior approval).
Otherwise, the bank holidays could definitely hold things up!

I wouldn't think they would have a custom's charge.. One of the letters is my SC tax refund, and the other is a reference letter from my old supervisor (being sent in an Air Force Inns envelope with a signature over the seal- I hope that doesn't entice curious handlers...). Both were sent in the middle of April and I need that damn reference letter for my Uni application!  >:(

I have read those Royal Mail horror stories.. My husband and I have received opened mail- one being a letter from the bank! My mother was also returned an opened and mangled birthday card she had sent me..

My birthday present took almost 4 weeks to get here (Mom mailed it three weeks before my birthday) and it was posted from FL in EARLY March..
