Happy Passover My Jewish Girls!!! Food Related, I swear!
« on: April 19, 2008, 11:26:40 PM »
Happy Pesach to all the jews! I know you are out there!

I have my parents here so we had a  mini seder tonight and the food was GREAT!!!! It was so lovely to have all my favorites!

We started with our favorite Salty Egg Water, then we had FAB matzoh ball soup, I made a caramelized Noodle Kugel and we had Chicken and Roasted Garlic and Horseradish crusted Roast Beef, and TONS of roasted vegetables. For our pudding, I made a Pavlova, but we were so full that we didn't get to eat it tonight. We are saving it for tomorrow!

Unfortunately my 2 year old wasn't able to say the Manishtana, but we did have a rousing chorus of Chad Gad Ya and Dayanu!

Happy Pesach everyone! I love Passover!!

We're doing our seder Saturday night.  Nothing quite as fancy as Racheeeee, but I'm looking forward to the sweet potato & carrot tsimmes and my mom's famous matzo brittle for dessert (along with the requisite Manischewitz cake :P ).

Of course, all I really care about is the charoset.  I always make double the amount so I can munch on the leftovers for the rest of the week! ;D

Happy Passover!

Racheeeee, what is Salty Egg Water?

I love Pesach, but have to admit because it is just me and DF, I haven't planned anything special. I really miss being with my family and especially the Manischewitz cake.  ;)

Happy Passover!
I was with my MiL yesterday while my hubby was fixing the car and she took me to the big Tesco in her neighborhood in Manchester which has a big population of Jews, so there was more than an entire aisle of Jewish food and also a wall of matzo boxes when you first walk in!

It's been a long time since I've even had matzo so we got a couple of boxes.  We went down the aisle and I explained what the different things were and also explained a bit about the seder plate and the different symbolic foods which I forgot what they were called, until I read this thread.  I even forgot the word Manishtana... :-[

Anyway, because I'm vegetarian and also don't eat anything with egg in it I can't really have a lot of the old traditional dishes anymore though it was fun to reminisce.  I was happy with my boxes of matzoh, my non-alcoholic sparkling "wine", my falaffel and hummus.

Hubby's out of town so I had seder over at a friend's house.

It was all very traditional. Traditional food. Traditional settings. Traditional singing. Traditional falling asleep or passing out before finishing the Haggadah. ;D
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"
