Moving stuff from NY to Scotland
« on: April 21, 2008, 10:28:00 PM »
Have a fairly small amount of furniture and other small items (less than a container-about 20-25 boxes) that I need to ship over from NY to one of the Scottish Isles.  I've been spending days with this trying to make sense out of quotes.  The quotes seem to be all over the place, ranging from a few hundred $ to a few thousand.  I'm looking for a door to door service that doesn't kill me on rates.  Some companies are saying it's cheaper to have them ship to Glasgow then I arrange for pick up and delivery to my home in Scotland.   ???

Does anyone know anything about "port fees"?  One company said their quote includes everything but port fees.

Has anyone used Ranier Overseas?

Thanks to those who suggested the movingscam.com because that definitely has helped.

Any help/ advise on this would be most appreciated.
