Topic: Does anyone know how to make any decent low-fat desserts/sweets?  (Read 915 times)

I don't mind baking or cooking really..but I would like to be able to make some nice desserts for when company comes by for dinner...So far I can only make a decent fruit salad...any ideas?

I don't know if this is what you're looking for but if you're going to be making brownies ever, and you're making them out of a box (I'm not much of a baker unfortunately) to make them "healthier" I use un-sweetened applesauce instead of oil. You have to add a bit more than you would of oil but they turn out really tasty and you can hardly tell the difference! Good luck!

I second the recommendation of using applesauce.

Remember, that sugar is fat-free so a lot of prepackaged foods (or recipes) will tout their products as being low-fat or fat-free.

What about fruit sorbet (homemade)?

OOOH sorbet sounds good..How would I make that? Know any good websites in the UK?
In the states I would just use foodchannel.com, but it is geared towards american tastes

You can probably find a recipe on the BBC food site. My mum used to make sorbet a lot, it's quite easy and you can play around with the flavours, even add alcohol if you want.
