Shipping stuff without knowing your next address?
« on: May 18, 2008, 03:36:29 PM »
In anyones experience, is it possible to get my things underway and inform them of the specific delivery address later?

Also, do drawers have to be empty or can I leave my clothes in the dresser?

thanks
 :)Holly

Sorry, I can't remember which way you're moving. We're about to move back to the US and every single shipper we've been quoted by has had no problems with the fact we only know the town we're moving to and not the full address.

We've decided to use Robinson's.

Delivery status...that is a question for your shipper/mover.  When you have them come out to survey your household to give you estimates, you need to ask those questions. Most shippers will store your items in a warehouse at your expense if you are not ready for delivery. Your items could sit in a port for some time waiting to be loaded on a boat with availability and then it won't cost you anything for the delay until you know where it's going. Some shippers will allow things to be left in drawers since it gives the furniture more stability. But some do not want to have to carry the extra weight when taking it in and out of your home.  Ask anything you aren't familiar with of your shipping company since they have the final say and each shipment can be different....good luck

If you plan on leaving clothes in the drawers I would suggest bagging them in large garbage bags to protect them from moisture.  :)
