Shock horror!

Those of you who know me know about my problems with running.

But darnitall...I gotta try something.

You go girl...  I will be your cheerleader...  I will walk while you jog...  (my knees will not allow me to jog yet)

Well strictly speaking my breathing probably won't allow me to jog, but I'm gonna darnitall try.  :) I even bought a stopwatch so I could time myself.  :D

And today...I'm off to the leisure centre to pick up a morning ticket, gonna try the bus thang tomorrow and see if I can actually drag myself outta bed, make it to swimming, and then get to work on time.

Any bets?  ;)

Well havent' managed to go jogging yet, first night cause David is worried about me running at night, and yesterday cause I was um  :-[ recovering from razor burn lol.

I did however (despite oversleeping) make it to swimming.  I did 10 laps (which took me about half an hour lol...I need to take swimming lessons!).  I got to work...half an hour...early.  :P

Lol, It was fun tho and I'm gonna drop by again to pick up a ticket for tomorrow morning.  I was absolutely knackered when I went to bed last night!  :D

Hi Wench,

How's the running and swimming going?  Swimming is supposed to be the best cardio exercise you can do...it's easy on the knees and joints but really get's your heart rate up!

When you're running, just run as long as you can and then walk for a while until you get your breath back, then run again!  I wouldn't mess with a stop watch...do you really care how fast you run right now?  When I started running, I used a pedometer as I was more concerned with how far and the amount of time I was running (keeping that old heart rate up...the great fat fighter!).

Hope it's going well.  The first days are the most difficult.  Hang in there!

;)

:-[ I haven't used the stopwatch even ONCE.  I'm sad sad sad lol.

I've been swimming twice a week now, and I'm starting swim classes.  Missed this week's lesson tho cause I got the time wrong.   [smiley=doh.gif]

I did manage to go jogging on one of the treadmills at the gym last week tho.  For a whole 9 min (very slowly) and then 2 min cool down.

And I didn't hyperventilate.  Joy!

Now I'm sitting at home in my pj's thinking how much I need to go to they gym...but I just feel so lazy.  :(

Sounds like you're doing great, Wench!  How's the swimming going?  Running on the treadmill for 9 minutes is really good!  It takes a while to build up your stamina.  Like I mentioned before, running and then walking is fine too.  My running mags stress that a lot.

I've had to adjust my running some because of my chemo so I've been running until I can't run anymore, then walk for a minute, then run again, and so on.  It really makes a difference and helps you to not be overwhelmed by the thought of "I can't run another step so I'm going to stop."
