I know its a stupid question, but have you accidentaly pressed the button that'll shut off the view screen when taking photos?  (Its a battery-saving option.)  I can't remember off hand which button tends to do that on Kodaks...   :-\\\\

Ugh we have a Canon that randomly does the same thing! I have no idea why. If it is just a normal point and shoot, have you tried using different settings? When our camera freaks out like that, we are able to still use it under the 'custom' and 'manual' modes. Sometimes viewer stays unresponsive for a day or two, but its gone months before! Do you have any camera repair shops around that might be able to have a look?
I'm thinking about getting metal legs. It's a risky operation, but it'll be worth it.

My uncle came over a few weeks ago and had just bought a brand new kodak easyshare and he accidently sat on it (not even hard) and it did the same thing and didnt work the rest of the trip.... he is taking it back for a refund when he gets home.

Wonder if its a technical fault of that camera.... ???
