Yes, sad but true...the event signifying the end of summer (summer such as it was/was not this year) - for me... <sobs>  [smiley=bigcry.gif]

Get out your Union Jack and practice up your British patriotic songs & sea shanties... Last Night of the Proms is this Saturday 13 September at 8 pm - to be shown live on BBC2 (Part 1), and BBC1 (Part 2).  :D

(I'll see if I can get the date changed by a mod in the thread title...thought I'd open up the old one rather than starting a new thread.)
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Cheers Cait!

Here's a link for this year's Last Night programme...

I might have to shed a little tear this year...  ;)  All those British-y songs, now that I'm a bona fide citizen.  ;D

I'll be watching!  :)

Sadly, my quote from last year is relevant again this year:

Kids back at school and last night of the proms - signalling the end of the summer that never was...

Must learn the words to the songs this year...  :-[

God Save the Queen - I always end up singing My Country Tis of Thee.  And it was bad at my citizenship ceremony back in January, because I had a jumble of both sets of lyrics running through my head as the music played - perhaps that is only fitting?  :P

Oh Tin - summer is now, officially, OVER!  [smiley=bigcry.gif]

Liked the folk song medley, especially that Bryn Terfel singing Loch Lomond, and how about that crazy jacket he wore?!!  :)  Although, ahem, On Ilkla Moor Baht 'at was conspicuously missing from the 'British Isles' folk song medley...   >:(  ;)

Not too sure about that Froms commission/arrangement though.  ???

I missed the sea shanties that they usually play - not the same as the Vaughan Williams Sea Songs - I don't think?

<Sigh> Summer's over.  [smiley=bigcry.gif]

Okay, bring on brussel sprouts, Guy Fawkes, and Chrimbo now...  :\\\'(
