Flying out of Tampa FL to Gatwick on Britishairways

Has anyone had experience with this? I was told I would have to go through a shipping service and the one they recommended wanted $2600.00!  Could that be right? I am devastated. I cannot afford that! I brought this dog over here to the US with me from the UK. Now I am going back. It was not near that expensive to bring her over on BA. I don't know what to do.  :\\\'(

According to the PETS Scheme, you can only fly out of certain cities on certain airlines if you want to take your pet as cargo.
