The Carpenters concert on BBC 4
« on: July 12, 2008, 03:39:42 PM »
Anyone catch this last night? There were two concerrts.... I can't believe how amazing she sounded live... absolutely perfect.

I saw her in concert when I was a very little girl and don't remember much but god, it's such a tragedy that she died so young.... :-\\\\

I was born in 1970, well, the very end of it. (thank you for thinking I was younger though) :-*

I watched the documentary last night, I am a Carpenters fan anyway...didn't watch the concerts but she had the most beautiful voice I have ever heard. Rich, soulful, poetic...just a stunning woman. My MIL said that Karen Carpenter saved her life, she was an Anorexic in the 80's and didn't know anything about Anorexia until she saw Karen Carpenter on TV looking spookily as thin as she was at the time.

I always find the Carpenters very tragic, I don't know if its because the music was tragic, or her life was tragic....

I didn't even catch that in your post! It wasn't that funny last night, so I would happily have missed it if I'd known the Carpenters were on.  :(

They do! In fact, there are two Carpenters concerts on BBC iPlayer!

Thank you!  I'm so excited.

Has anyone seen the Movie they did about them  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097648/

I was so obsessed by it!  I always loved when she was first in the studio and they got her to lower her voice.

Hey Stacey

They're on again tonight on BBC 4 quite late after midnight... along with a documentary that i've seen before about her life. It's a bit odd as the Mother comes off a bit....hmmmmm. A bit over controlling.

If you want to see me sob hysterically, just put on Goodbye to Love and stand back :\\\'(

Hoorah! It was all fate. I saw it in the telly guide just as we were walking out the door to see Mamma Mia, but it was sold out so I thought i'd pop online and tell you if you were around...  you'll enjoy it and dig those funky maxi skirts...

(ps - you'll be forever 25 to me!  ;))
