Using a USA Xbox 360 in UK
« on: August 21, 2008, 03:38:56 AM »
My DH is taking his Xbox 360 with us when we move next month.  Since it uses DC Power thru a 'power brick' can we just use a UK Xbox 360 'power brick'?  He looked it up Online and both the US and UK 'power bricks' have the same DC Output.

Any ideas?  Thanks...

They both look to be the same so it should be ok.  I know the 360 is sensitive to power variations though so i'm not sure if you should get a new power supply, maybe someone with more electronics knowledge would know more.

Also you'll need to buy US games unless your system is modded, UK games wont work on a US XBox 360.  Not sure if there's something you'll need to get for your television too, it used to be you'd have to buy an adaptor or all the games would show up in black and white, but maybe modern tvs have fixed this problem.

You can always get games on ebay if you have to use American games only.  If the output is the same, can you not just use a adaptor rather than buy new leads. Thats what we do for our laptop.

Yeah we are taking our LCD TV just to use for the Xbox and Media Server.  He already has SO many games and we planned on using eBay, etc.. for future US coded games.  He just didn't want to blow it up or anything  ;D

It should be fine in that case.   Many units sold internationally these days do it that way: The input to the actual game/printer/whatever-it-is is the same the world over; they just ship with a different power unit to suit the supply in the country in question.

the 360s are regionalized. if you brought it over, you'd have to continue buying games for it from the US... UK games will not play in it.

You won't be able to play local DVDs either.
